Cheap Car Rentals in Downtown, Albany

Plenty of parking for my car and quick and easy rental. Will use again!

They claim cancellation can be done within 24 hours. They don’t add the caveat that “they’re closed” when you call to cancel. There was no way to cancel on line. Beware. It’s a $50 cancel cost.

When I went online to rent my car, I started on the Albany Intl airport (ALB) site, I picked my deal and thought I all was set. When I arrived at the ALB counter I was asked for my name. When the attendant couldn't find my rental, she asked for my confirmation number. Then I was told my car was rented from the Hertz office on Central Avenue (CA), approximately 5 miles away. I then asked if there was a shuttle over to CA, and when she said "No", I asked how I was supposed to get there, she shrugged her shoulders, and said, "I don't know, how about a cab". I luckily was able to get an Uber ride to CA. When there, I asked if I could drop it off at ALB and was told I would be charged $59 for some kind of relocation fee. First of all, there should be some kind of warning when you're sent to an alternate site for your car. Secondly, I think its BS that the car can't be dropped at another (same company) office. I was happy with the original deal but when you tack on another $40 for round trip Uber or $59 for relocation fee, it's ridiculous. I won't be using Hertz or Kayak in the future.

The car was great, customer service was terrible and web site was out of date. I called the local number to reserve a shuttle as per the web site, but was transferred to call center. Three calls and three hours later I had been given false info, transferred, and hung up on. There is no shuttle and no local number. P/U location was a mall, but there were no signs for Budget. Wandered for thirty minutes before discovering that the office was inside the Avis office.

It was an excellent car rental experience

I did some paperwork, got a car, drove it, and returned it promptly. Easy experience.

When dropping off they told me not to wait in line just that they’ll email me my receipt, but I still don’t have it or know how much I was charged. When I picked up car they made it seem like there were a lot of extra fees.

I meant to pick this up at the airport, but somehow, I had to pick it up at a mall. I took an Uber there, and couldn't find the place, so I walked through the mall, asked questions, and finally found it. Had to drag my luggage around with me. The car was parked quite a distance from the actual office in a sketchy parking area. The car smelled of skunk - apparently the previous driver had run one over. Also, there was a loud sound coming from the tailpipe. Usually my experiences with Avis have been great.
