The car was in good condition.

The car was not ready on time. Also, when we returned the car, they tried to charge us for damage that must have been there when we rented the car but it was so miniscule that no one noticed it. The front bumper was misaligned by millimeters. We had to squat down and stare closely to even notice. Finally, over three weeks later, it seems they decided not to charge us because I received a final receipt that did not include a charge for the "damage". I know no one wants to admit that they damaged a rental car, but really--we didn't. What's more, I could have driven this car for years and never noticed.

I was not informed that in the town where I was to pick up the car there is no such thing as Ace car rental. I spent 2 frustrating hours in the airport in puerto Montt before figuring out that Ace is Known by another name. 😠

Car was relatively new, well kept and clean.

Pick up and drop off was horrendous. ACE is not the actual rental company, Econo Rental had the reservation, but under a different number. I found it after searching the rental desks at the airport for an hour and asking dozens of people in the rental area. Bait and switch!!

I was charged for a car wash. The car was dusty when returned but nothing out of the ordinary. When renting it was not easy to discover that the road tolls outside of Santiago were not included and that there was a 25% markup on the automatically read tolls. There was also an unexpected admin charge. So the daily rate for the car was artificially low. The car was new and quite luxurious for the class, opel Corsa, but the clutch was iffy even though the car had only 13000 kms on it.

Everything was ok, until our rental broke down due to electrical problem and stopped on a busy street. We waited for more than 3 hours for the tow truck to take the car and another 2 hours+ plus call back to the USA for the replacement car due to language problem. We ended up not pick up the replacement because it’s on the other side of the town and op for refund. In all fairness the local car rental company do whatever in their power to smooth down the situation but not effective.

Tried to pick up the car early was told I had to wait hours until noon then was told at noon nothing was available and then they were going to downgrade the car so it would be cheaper I said I didn’t want the insurance they insisted and it was double the price. Return day also inchangable.

I'm not sure how much it cost me in telephone roaming charges. I have to see on my phone bill when it arrives, But I was called twice during the rental to first, provide my credit card a second time and second, on the fourth day of the rental, I was asked to trade out that vehicle for another one. This isn't easy in the US and in Chile, when I don't have telephone connections and the language, it makes it very complicated. I still am mystified why my vacation stopped and had to focus on Avis emergencies.

Truck fit our group of 4 and all our ski gear In the back that was good. We felt safe in it driving over the mountains. In the end they said I was charges same as my contract when I booked so no extra fees and I appreciated that.

Pick up was a little confusing the desk was easy to find but once we got paperwork had to look for the cars and someone to help. Car wasn't ready it needed to be washed and would be another 20 min. We said skip the wash it still took about 10 min. Returning same thing we weren't sure where to leave the car no one came up to us for awhile but when someone finally did they were very helpful and actually took us to refuel the car so we wouldn't be charged for not doing it before hand.
