The undisclosed manager's special's vehicle was a full size pick-up truck - a Dodge 1500 - much to my surprise. The daily rental cost was a great value for the money, but the cost of fuel was substantially higher than I had budgeted, given that I was anticipating a vehicle with a much smaller engine at this price point. The initial QR code I was given to exit the parking garage in the Chicago Loop also did not work, leading me to remain stuck for several minutes at the exit gate until I was able to get through to a human being at Hertz and explain my situation. The second QR code I was given opened the gate immediately. The 1500.Dodge Ram was offered at an extremely low daily for this make and model of truck, though I was not expecting to drive such a large vehicle in and out of downtown Chicago where parking for vehicles of this size can sometimes be difficult, not to mention the savings I earned from lower rental costs were offset by the costs of refueling a vehicle that only averaged 17 mpg.

Worst car rental experience ever! I got a late night voicemail less than 12 hours before I was supposed to pick up my rental saying the location for my pick up was closed (I had made my reservation 3 months prior). On the morning when I was supposed to pick up my car to go home for the holidays, Hertz informed me there was no car available for me in the entire Chicago area. I was on the phone with them for an hour and they did absolutely nothing. I will never rent from them again.

The car was nice aside from scratch marks on the ceiling (I'm serious) and screeching tires

It was an absolutely terrible experience. I arrived on time and as I arrived was getting a phone call from the facility. They informed me when I walked in that they were calling bc they didn't have a car (I've had this reservation for over a week) and that it would be two hours. That is unacceptable. I booked a car and I had somewhere to be. They then said two other people were waiting too but they would put me ahead of two other customers if I agreed to an upcharge for a more expensive car that was being sent there. I said I didn't feel I should be charged for to accommodate their error but they said they were doing me a favor by putting me ahead of the two other people. What a terrible way to run a business. I agreed but after some push back, again I had somewhere to be. It still took 30 minutes for that car to get there. While we waiting the same person and another employee were making fun of customers calling in on the phone because they thought their questions were stupid. There did not seem to be an sense of urgency about being so behind or anything being done to help the customers who are paying them good money. While waiting they provided me my updated quote. It was as I expected and planned for. We went through the ID stuff etc. Finally the car arrives and I go to pay and they let me know it's the amount they said PLUS a security hold of $300. I put money aside specifically for this and no where, including our 30+ waiting time, were we told about a security hold. I didn't have enough money on my card to do this. My partner, who was with me, then had to go in and do the Driver's licence etc all over again so we could finally get going. Honestly I want all of my money back. It was absolutely ridiculous. I am a customer support manager and if an employee or my company dealt this way I would be embarrassed.

At the time of the pick up, the Branch Manager was very easy going, helpful, and the process was fast. That is a huge plus on this management portion. The Manager did give me an option to pick between three vehicles available at that moment, huge plus. Credit Card wouldn't work, they accepted my Bank Debit Card, great deal for me.

There are two things. the Vehicle I got was dirty in the inside with coffee spilled and looked like it did not get vacuumed thoroughly, finger prints all over windows and stereo. My mistake for not checking thoroughly, due to being in a rush to get to work right after that. I thought due to COVID they would have cleaned the car better. And the second one not so much on them but advise to the Customer/user, make sure to rent a vehicle which you know you will be comfortable driving-I got a Nissan Altima, which I am not used to driving smaller cars, and I am working at an Airport. Driving in the expressway felt so unsafe specially with the Chicago Wind, the wind moves the car very easily and driving in higher speed in expressway was not easy with a smaller vehicle. I called to ask if I can have it switched to a heavier car and I was told they can't, only if there was any mechanical issues with the Car-what about safety? Maybe this is for Enterprise and not this location, but if your customer doesn't feel safe due to the driving needed to be done, they should allow something like this to be an exception to the Rule. I may be wrong but this is how I feel at the moment.

The guy in Chicago couldn't care less if we rented a car or not...told us at 10am the car wasn't ready and to come back at 12 but not too close to 12 because they close...car wasn't washed or cleaned, smelled like smoke and kid inside said car has been there for 3 days...no washer fluid, really bad blades and wantd us to drop off at a different location in town than we indicated....when we called him about that and saw it on sheet he couldn't care less...said call Budget HQ...I want my money back! I want an apology...i want something for the time, trouble, smokey car, bad wipers and overall incompetence of the company

pretty much disappointed all the way around.

The car REEKED of marijuana, but we could not exchange it because it was the only one with a toll pass, which did NOT WORK, by the way. Wound up costing me for the pass, plus paying for the tolls. Prepaid the gas, only to find the tank on almost empty, in downtown Chicago. I still have not received confirmation that it was returned after dropping the key in Kalamazoo (although the counter was supposed to have been open that day). Unusually disappointed in Budget. Still trying to figure out who cares enough to complain to...

Car size.

Car did not have annual inspection requested for Canada . Police stopped us and wanted to tow the car. Cruise control was not working, etc.

Drop off location was wrong on my paperwork from avis. After driving around looking for a place that didn't exist I called avis and directed me to drop the car at another location, and then bring keys to another location. Was going to be late after this as we had to walk to the key drop off. Asked them to wait as we'd be 10 minutes late. They said no problem. No one there to accept keys. Called the national number and was told I have to now walk back to the car and take it to another location. Couldn't do that, already late for a flight. Avis pretty much said tough luck. I asked if I could lock the keys in the glove box because I had to get going. Avis said no and that I would be charged additional fees. Whatever. It's just money, but avis customer service is an abomination.
