Car smelled like cigarette smoke, dollar had hella extra unexpected charges on arrival. we waited in the cold for the car to be brought around and they had, it was literally sitting in front of us, but no one told us. They guys just walked off and we waited. It wasn't a luxury car. It was an suv. Not what I ordered

Did have a reservation, but seems with the people in front of who did not have reservation received a car of my class. By the time they got to the 2 people who had reservation who were in the same boat as me.. Had to wait an 1/2 hr plus to receive vehicle(s). Seems this part of the system does not work as well for people who have reservations.. Especially when flight # ,airline and time of pickup was already in thier system... Have been in this posistion before, the difference was the car I reserved was waiting for me, while the people without reservations were the ones waiting for their car...

Initially, dollar did not have the vehicle class that I selected. The manager at dollar did not want to go out of her way to please me. She was very rude. She wanted to give me a Kia as a replacement to my Chrysler 300. She stated that it was in the same class of vehicle. The friendly gentleman who was retrieving cars went out of his way to replace my 300 with a Volvo. Other than the manager of the store, everyone else and the service was fantastic

Horrible experience. They gave car with no battery & no curiosity to even serve us first as we return back due to bad car issuance. I dont recommend to any one for this kind of poor customer service & they gave a remote that has no buttons( Mazda SUV). Plus car has all kind of indicators & we are not sure if that car will complete the trip.

When I picked up my vehicle, the agent told me the parking space where my rental was located. However, I did not understand him, and had to return to the rental booth to ask again. It would have been helpful to have the parking space clearly marked on my paperwork. Overall, though, everything went smoothly.

Pick up was a disaster, long wait and much confusion between Avis, Budget and Payless. Car turned out to be an SUV that was backed up to a light post base so the rear door couldn’t be opened to put in luggage. Drop off was also a mess as there was no place to put the car and no directions to bus stop. I was directed into a spot which was partially blocked by a plastic post so I couldn’t get in straight. I also was not expecting to have $250 charged to my card when the rental was PREPAID!

The car windows would have benefited from a treatment of RainX...during a couple of rain storms the raindrops beaded up so much on the side windows and side mirrors that it was very difficult to see through them. I even stopped once to wipe them off, but they instantly beaded up again.

I specifically reserved an AWD vehicle seeing as I arrived in Detroit at 11pm IN THE MIDDLE OF A SNOWSTORM and then had to drive 4 hrs to my final destination, however, upon arrival at the Budget office they told me IT DIDN'T MATTER BECAUSE THERE NOW WEREN'T ANY AWD VEHICLES AVAILABLE. Thus began my horrifying drive through a wintery vortex in a PRIUS!!!! Also, I called Budget customer service to change my drop off location from Detroit to Holland and they told me it would be no problem and no change in fees. Well, once I got my bill from Budget, I was charged an additional day for my rental due to the fact that the new drop-off location doesn't have cameras so they were unable to record what time I dropped off the car. I have called Budget customer service 4 times with varying levels of competency by staff (one straight up hung up on me!) but still no one has been able to process me a refund for the additional day's charge. I will never rent from Budget again.

we arrived in Detroit at 10:30 pm to the budget standing spot. No bus ever came to pick us up. My daughter and i and another gentleman stood for 40 min in the cold. We stopped several other rental companies to see if they would please pick us up or call the budget company and they kept telling us one would come eventually finally after 40 minutes I pleaded with a driver to please take us. He was from Avis and took us to the Avis lot. Told us budget was closed and we rented a car from them. Thank you Avis!

The truck had not been cleaned. A dirty straw felll from the passenger visor, the floors were dirty. The truck had a low oil light came on, and the dip stick was dry, so I added a quart. That should never be necessary in a rental car.

The premium suv I reserved wasn’t so premium. A ton of air sound would come in from the windshield once I hit 45mph as if the weather strip was not properly replaced. The breaks were also very bad the vehicle should have been serviced before being rented out.

Van was brought up, left for 6 miles, then low tire light came on, went back, swapped stuff to another van. Sienna was learning curve. Had an emergency, at home. returned car to DTW lot used 6 of the 9 days. Got no receipt from accepting agent. Got home to my wife in hospital and found a receipt from Thrifty charging $198 for AP conc fee which I told them was already in the previous contract. Called 3 times, Thrifty refused to reverse. Even when i said they had 3 days rental revenue to use the van. Didn't want credit for the days, just not to pay twice for airport fee.

The vehicle is clean but not well-maintained. The suspension was very stiff and felt like it did not exist. The door light alarm was always on, even I closed all the doors firmly several times. And I had to walk across the parking lot to find the car in the rain by myself.

The rental car itself was ok.

Kayak booked my reservation 30 minutes away from the airport. When this was determined by the staff at Hertz Detroit airport, they were unwilling to help arrive at a solution. I had to leave the Hertz area and book through Thrifty/Dollar in order to obtain a rental car. Additionally, the area where I needed to work with the Hertz Detroit airport representative was in a closed in space, making me less comfortable during COVID.

Car was excellent -- clean and ready to go. Unnecessary stress at initial check-out, but returning the car was quick and easy.

Initial check-out was bad. Credit card reader didn't work, and rather than try another one (that particular card reader wasn't working), I was told to call the third party I had pre-paid for the rental (Kayak) and tell them I'd have to use a different card. Finally, I went to a different clerk further down the counter who simply ran my card on her card reader and it was fine. The whole encounter added another 15 minutes of unnecessary stress. I had also noticed the customer in front of me having a similar problem with the same clerk.

I was expecting a Corolla and was disappointed when it wasn't available. The rental agent thought I might like a Chevy Cruise and she was right! It was very comfortable and performed well around town and on the highways.

Everything was excellent except for one thing; the amount charged on my credit card was way higher than my rental agreement and the final amount upon return. The National car rental location was Detroit, Mi Airport and returned to Brownsville,Tx airport. Something happened in the transition and hopefully National can correct the problem! I have a dispute reference number and I am waiting for the call from National at this time.

We had a delay because the vehicle we reserved wasn’t on site and ready at the appointed time. We had to wait a little over an hour past our pick up time. They were as accommodating as they could be considering the circumstances and they adjusted my rental cost fairly to compensate me for the inconvenience. Outside of that, the experience was perfect and the vehicle was great. I would definitely rent again.

I was refused a rental car because the ID reader was not up to date and did not recognize my driver’s license. It is a basic enhanced real ID from MN. Very disappointed and frustrated. I also waited at least 20 minutes for the manager to come “verify” that they couldn’t rent me a car. They didn’t even try to help me find a solution. What a waste of time. Shout out to Enterprise for finding me a rental!
