I reserved a small SUV because I was traveling with skis and friends but was told I had to take either a small compact or a van. Avis “sold” me a product they didn’t have. The compact was very nice but not what I needed for the trip.

When I checked in at the airport in Fairbanks, Alaska. I asked the desk if the vehicle had winter tires. The clerk said yes. I later found out after a skidding accident that the tires were not winter tires. Tony

Easy access, small office, great selection of cars. I rented a 4x4 Ford Expedition that was perfect for what I needed, but the price was pretty high once all the fees and taxes were added.

If your flight to Fairbanks is late CALL if not your booking will be canceled like mine. They gave the car away but found me one. Also bring a copy of your car insurance so you don’t have to buy insurance (Fairbanks AK). This was not told when renting the car from Kayak

Extremely high price. The vehicle had not been properly cleaned prior to picking it up. I arrived early for pick up and had I not asked I would have been charged for an entire extra day So I waited around for an hour. The person at the desk refused to do the walk around with me and made wanted me to document the damages prior to leaving. She said they didn’t have enough people to spare due to Covid but there were 3 people in the office and nobody else in the line.

Alamo did not answer their telephone at 1:17 am when my plane landed in Fairbanks, AK. I had arrived early and wanted to pick up my rental car at 1:17 am. The contracted pickup time was set for 10:00 am. All Alamo's advertised information said they were open to 1:30 am. Later that same morning, I arrived at 10:58 am for my 10:00 am pickup. Alamo had given away my rental. No phone call. Nothing to see if I was on the way. And the desk clerk was dismissive and not the least bit apologetic about it.

They said they don't even stock the car (or even the brand of car) I booked, so they gave me a different one, which other companies were offering for less money. I told them this was a bait and switch and asked if they could give a discount, since I would have gone with their competitors at the lower rate. They required me to prove that the car I booked was what I claimed, since they apparently don't have any record on their side of the car. After I proved the booking and requested a manager, they provided discount, which is fair, but this experience shouldn't happen.

The staff were all great. The airport is small, so it was very easy to locate. I loved not needed a shuttle to get to the car!

The check in process was a tad slow. I was behind one person and was very glad there wasn’t a big line to contend with.

pick up was easy due to Fairbanks being such a small airport, and person at counter was helpful and efficient

A visual (e.g. a map posted at the counter) of where Dollar vehicles are in the Rental pick-up lot could make finding the vehicle easier, though it is a small lot and wasn't too difficult.

The operational safety of the vehicle could have been better. The vehicle had very poor traction on the icy roads and had a lot of previous damage not noted before driving away from the lot. The alignment of the vehicle was not nearly 100%, but drivable for someone familiar with the roads in Fairbanks during the winter. Overall, I suggest checking the alignment before future rental.

Enterprise at Fairbanks Airport is awesome. They always have newer/clean vehicles and the customer service is second to none. I always receive a personalized e-mail from the manager the day after pickup checking on my satisfaction with the vehicle and the customer service I received at vehicle checkout. Kudos to a well run organization.

Lied that it was a 4 wheel drive, lied that it was weatherize, gave us a cord to plug it in and then there was no plug installed on the car. Argued with me on the phone about it and eventually tried to blame me that I booked the wrong thing but I had my reservation to show otherwise.

The lady at the counter was friendly and polite. And very apologetic.

My reservation did not work. Hertz did not have any cars available even though Kayak decided they would book my reservation anyway and make me think I had a car. I had planned for 22/day which was the rate I was given. Instead I was forced to use the only car agency that had a car available and it cost me 5x as much. $110. I will never use kayak again and I will strongly recommend others use a different site to compare rates or book. Since kayak is useless if it can’t actually book my reservation properly. It’s -20F in Alaska , that’s where I am. And I was forced to overpay for a rental, in any other situation I would have walked but sadly my hands were tied in this situation. 0/5 very poor quality site and poor quality service. I recommend people do not use this site any chance I can now. Which is often since I work in Customer Service and Tourism.
