AVIS in Bergen was extremely helpful. Due to the bicycle race we could not return the car as planned. The local AVIS people were very accommodating in agreeing to pick up the car and allowing us to catch our flight back to Stockholm. They could not have been more helpful. The poor rating is solely due to the excessive one-way fees and the failure to explain these to us.

Nobody unexplained costs for a one-way rental and fact that they could change this fee at their discretion. The Bergen AVIS office increased the one-way fee by 3x (from 4000 SEK to 12000 SEK) without any notice that they were doing that. We did not discover this until we returned from our trip and I checked our credit card statement. The total cost of the 3-day rental was over $2300.00. We feel cheated and taken advantage of and will likely not rent from AVIS again! When I called AVIS customer service I was told there was nothing that could be done....in essence it was our fault for not asking in advance. extremely disappointed.

Don't try to book after hours with Hertz here. They have a self service after hours kiosk, but it's unlikely they will actually put your keys in there. We had to wait until the next morning to pick up our car. Cost us $80 in taxi/bus fees and we were not reimbursed for those or the lost time with the car.

Our flight was delayed by several hours so they gave our car away and didn’t have another which could accommodate us. We had to find another rental company at the airport and as it was a last minute rental had to pay 2.5 times as much for a smaller car and a much worse rerun location.

was charged almost 1000 dollars for a 1" scratch on the car - the car was covered with many large scratches when we picked it up, i videoed the whole car but failed to get a really good view of one of them. they keep saying we did it when it is on the video. be careful of the scam they are pulling there!

Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

They were unable to give us the size car I had reserved and it was hard to find the drop-off point at Oslo Airport. That may not be Hertz's fault!
