The car costed about 2x more than we originally intended because of the price of a child booster seat + fees + additional coverage that I wasn't sure I needed. It was appalling how much we spent for the car - would could have literally purchased a used car for the same price for a 9 day trip.

I picked up my car at the airport in Hilo, where I live, for a weekend around the island with family. I think the car could have been a little cleaner, but it wasn't a deal breaker and the process was quick and easy. The associate at the desk was friendly and funny, Mr. Panama I will call him. If every time I rent from Hertz I get to see his face, I will gladly return.

Pickup in Hilo was very easy - no lines and drop off in Kona took a minute with the shuttle immediately available to take us to our airline. Excellent no stress service.

We rented a jeep and it had no running boards which made it hard for my wife to get in out. Also it had manual locks and manual windows.

Easiest rental experience ever...so easy that I am horrified at all my previous airport rental experiences that are thought were "okay." Friendly service, fast paperwork, upgrade (very exciting) and we were off on our Hawaiian adventure in just a few minutes. Payless is curbside at the airport in Hilo, and after you walk right up to the attendant, we walked across the access road and there was our car waiting in the second row. Couldn't have been easier. I didn't get any "up sell" on insurance or coverage after firmly saying I wasn't interested. Easy drop off as well. In and out of the Payless booth in less than 5 minutes. Again, pleasant attendants and I will definitely use this company again!

The price of the rental could have been way better. The shock came with the added fees at the end of the rental...$91! It was already over $50 per day, and then I added a $10 per day upgrade to get a better car than a Spark. So that last chunk of money just added insult to injury.

There was a long line and only one representative. She was still working on the first person after 10 minutes, then she went to another desk to take in a return. We went to National and drove away before she got to the second person. We were number six.

All the employees I dealt with were friendly and helpful, so excellent service. I realize inventory was low, but my car had stains on the seats and scratches all over the outside body. It was embarrassing to ride around in.

Enjoyed having a reliable vehicle, the staff were very friendly and easy to communicate with. Great service at the airport booth both for pickup and drop off. We booked in advance for a small compact car and after waiting some time at the booth we we’re given a fairly large suv. Would have been better for us to have the smaller car that we ordered.

The price was right but I don't think I got the car class that I reserved. I booked a Full-size, and was given a Hyundai Elantra which I believe is a Mid-size. The car was FILTHY! Dirty inside and outside, there were even what I think were cigarette burns in the seat cushion. There was only one person working the desk, and the line was long by the time I got my keys. We only needed the car for about 6 or 7 hours that day, so it did the job.
