Little confusing when booking online. Started with a Westin location, they told me the only office that had a Jeep was the “airport” location, which turned out to be right across the street from my hotel. They did phone the location and let them know I was coming. And, my car was not there, they went and got it and I was on my way

The hours of operation are pretty limited which is something to note ahead of time in picking up the vehicle. Could have been clearer in the booking and confirmation process.

We had to take a taxi there as the place at the Sheraton within walking was sold out. They were very very busy but shantelle did a good job of moving us through quickly and let us return it at the rental place within walking. The key drop.box was easy to find.

I understand they were busy, but they were unable to pick us up so we could get on our way so we had to pay a taxi.

Very nice counter people. Vehicle availability could be better, as in the particular size of vehicle reserved often is not available. My car did exactly what I wanted, 30+ mpg, FM radio, A/C trunk big enough for 2 large bags. I would rent from Avis at this location again

My first time in Hawaii and I landed up reserving in the wrong airport. At OGG they told me they would charge me an extra $120 per day to change the reservation. I had to take $100 taxi to get to my car.

It wasn’t Avis s fault that I erred in the reservation, but they couldn’t care less of my predicament and were very unsympathetic. On principle I will rent from Avis again.

Car was very nice

I was charged an EXTRA day because my inter-island flight was cancelled due to bad weather, but I still returned the car before the 48 hour mark so I should NOT have even been charged one extra penny!! The rep at Avis agreed and said I got screwed but they couldn’t alter the extra charge on my contract and said I’d have to go back in the office and stand in a huge line to get the credit, but then I’d MISS MY FLIGHT! I decided to handle it after I got back home to Maui and I emailed Avis and called them but I got NO response! I’m planning to dispute with my credit card if they don’t credit my visa and resolve this issue!

Overpriced.. my flight in Maui was cancelled,and it was redirected to another airport in Maui. When asked to changed my pick up to the new airport, they charged me with todays’s price. It didn’t matter if I had booked and paid this in advance(which was much lesser). Extra costs like one way fee etc was understandable, changing the daily charges from 40$ per day to 100$ per day is unacceptable.. the car they provided was clean and good but this place is clearly overpriced for emergency changes in schedules.

We went to Kahului accidentally and reservation was in Lahaina. The agent was able to accomodate our reservation in Kahului.

The shuttle line from the airport was 1 hr. Long. We waited outside in the heat for another 45 min. on a list just to go inside. Then another 45 min. inside in line to meet an agent. Fortunately, our car was ready, but some folks were waiting another 45 min. For the car to be cleaned. We saw elderly people and pregnant women outside in the heat of mid afternoon. Disgraceful!

Not much.

The counter person did very little to help and her attitude was poor as well. The car was supposed to be ready at noon and the paperwork was finished at noon but I was told the car wasn’t ready. I along with other customers had to wait about an hour making us late for a scheduled prepaid tour. Avoid Budget in Maui!

O dropped off at a different location and they put the wrong address on the rental agreement for drop off. I went to the location on the agreement and the place was closed. When I tried to call to get the correct address, the employee gave me the same wrong address and told me to just drive around and look for it. She was not at the location and said she wasn’t familiar with it, but also couldn’t transfer me to anyone who worked there.

This rental location purports to be for the JHM airport, but in fact is located a 10 minute drive away. They provided a ride from the JHM airport to the car rental location on arrival, but on departure, the departing flight was too early, so I had to take and pay for a taxi to the airport after dropping off the car. How can you claim to be a car rental location for an airport if you can't even get there during scheduled flights? Awful.

National rental at the Kahului Airport was a very pleasant experience. The place is easily accessible from the terminal - either a 3 minute walk or a breezy tram ride to the new, clean facility. Finding the National desk was also easy. Once inside, the counter person was very pleasant and quickly helped me work through an unforeseen issue. She was cheerful, professional and made me feel welcome. The man at the car lot asked me how many in my party, and whether our luggage was a little or a lot. He directed us to the better-fitting SUV still in the same car class, but really a more efficient vehicle for our needs. The car was clean, got good fuel economy and had bells and whistles, like car connect which made the map feature on my phone safer to observe, all of which made the trip super easy. I would definitely use National again, particularly because of the customer service (and the price was not nearly as nose-bleed as I expected).
