The staff where I picked up the car was very nice but VERY inefficient and overwhelmed.

I got a too big, dirty car with only half a tank of gas after waiting almost an hour for my car. I had to go back and change cars the next day which was very inconvenient. I did request an airport drop-off from Hertz which was granted because I could not face dealing with the original office again. The cars are parked very far away. The whole thing was pretty awful.

They were friendly at the pick up point but not over the phone .

They need more car in stock. They need to clean the cars and also they need to provide cars with full tank of gas. Last but not least they should provide the car they showed at the time of reservation instead of offering upgrade where customer jas to pay way more than their reservation price.

I got upgraded to a luxury car which was a nice surprise.

The upgrade was nice, but I was concerned that someone would break into a car like that just parking on the street and then I would be held liable. Also, the oil was at 0% when I returned it and I felt unsafe driving the car, not knowing if I would be damaging the car.

I was put on the spot by being told I need to spend another $140 for liability insurance which I wasn’t told about before

The rental office called 2 hours before to let me know they had no cars and no ETA for when any new cars would come in. Then 2 days later I get charged a $50 fee for no-show. Ridiculously awful experience. Stay away!

I liked that they didn’t take money beforehand

We ended up never picking up our rental. We spoke to several people trying to receive a shuttle to the rental location, because the reservation email we had specifically said they were available as long as we called to ask for one. We were told that was impossible, the best they could do was extend our reservation window out an hour and wait for us. Not wanting to pay $50 for a cab we just made a new reservation with a different company, who came and got us in two minutes and had our fresh clean car to us ten minutes after that. We never picked up our rental.

I would like to report budget for not letting me rent a car that I booked couple days in advance. I was planning a business trip to San Jose from Los Angeles. I booked a car for 1 pm, came at 12:58 pm and the guy just locked the door in front of me. I told him I had a reservation to which he friendly waved his hand and I didn’t see anymore. This tremendously impacted by whole trip. Everything was planned by hour and because of kayak and budget my entire day went off schedule which in its turn had a negative consequence of other people’s scheduled events. I had to find an immediate substitute for the rental. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with renting a car and on kayak. This is NOT. Never renting from budget again. Kayak, I’m waiting for a compensation for this mistake.
