We reserved a mini van and when I went to pick it up, the only one available was dirty and didn’t have a full tank of gas. Thankfully another mini van came onto the lot before we left which was much cleaner and had a full tank of gas. We got that one which made the deal much better.
Absolutely TERRIBLE experience. I called Enterprise 3 days prior to travel and was told everything was confirmed. I was told on the phone there was a free shuttle from Portland airport to our pick up location (downtown Portland). There was no shuttle from airport once we arrived. We paid for a Lyft to our pick up location and arrived at 12:50 (50 minutes after our arranged pickup time due to looking for free shuttle at airport). When we arrived there was a sticky note on the door of our enterprise saying "Went to lunch be back at 1pm." We waited as until 2:15 until the manager of enterprise arrived. Once she arrived the manager told us she didn't have our phone number so she was unable to call us. The car she provided had completely bald tires and was unsafe to drive. The only other car available was a completely electric car that we were told would need 2.5 hours to reach full charge. We were already late for a wedding due to the late arrival of manager so we took the car which was unacceptable to us because we had a long road trip planned after our wedding through the rainforest and knew charging ports would not be available on our journey. We arrived late to our wedding and then again traveled to a local Enterprise the following day to exchange the car for gas powered car. The manager was very accommodating the following day however this did not make up for the awful experience. The car we were given for the remainder of our trip had many dings and scratches and also did not have full tread on the tires. Overall this was a terrible experience and I will not be using Priceline/Kayak or Enterprise in the future.
Watch carefully where they book you at. We looked for a rental at the airport and that's what I thought we signed up for, but they changed to a downtown location as the airport was overbooked - Options for $100 Uber rides to and from that location to the airport or a $300 inventory fee to Enterprise... Car was fine though.
Personnels should not always apologize for being new in the job because customers don’t care. He should not make it as an excuse for poor service. I reserved for a sedan standard but got 1 option for kia soul which we didnt like at all.

Enterprise is probably a better experience and worth the extra money.

The car was nice. Check in was slow, slow. Turning in car in Lewiston was a shot in the dark. Fortunately the Avis clerk helped us. Tried to change the reservation and that was like talking to a clerk in India with very little information at hand.
We purposely reserved a car for a long trip with 4 people. We got an SUV that was built for off road and smaller and less comfortable than what we reserved. The car was fairly dirty and sticky inside and smelled of cigarette smoke for several days. I have had similar experiences with Budget in the past, and had sworn them off, but they were the only option this time. I need to compare the details of our reservation, but it seems we were. charged more than our quote on Kayak.
Ridiculous prices for airport pickup. Some BS about concessioners fee

The car was excellent to drive on the road and I appreciated the company upgrading us for free. However, the service was lacking hospitality and after returning the car I found several other locations who do not charge extra fees for things like turning 25 in 8 weeks.
The charge for a second driver was $76. Extortionary!
Long lines in Portland, overcharged, confusing that my car wasn’t at airport, expensive, and gas refill is crazy. The staff were friendly and the Portland guy gave me a nicer car for having to pay $200 more
First car they tried to rent me had a huge gash in one of the tires. Second car they gave me got a flat tire the first day I had it, in normal driving conditions. Best part? No spare tire in the car so I had to wait THREE HOURS on the side of a random road for a tow truck to come get it, then had to go to another Avis to get a replacement car. When I got there the people who worked there had no idea I was coming or needed a car. So they gave me a dirty (not cleaned since the previous renter had it) shitty Mazda that got 22 miles to the gallon and had a sticky accelerator. I will never get a car from avis ever again.
Location was good. Staff was friendly although a bit challenged. At pickup, no one was in the rental office until one and a half hours after supposed to open. We had to wait that whole time and then wait another half hour for the others who were waiting ahead of us for the office to open. Car was old and not very clean but ran fine and was moderately comfortable. Did not get a midsize car, as ordered and charged for. Only two of us and could barely fit our luggage. Would think twice before renting here again.
Somehow I was charged $650 dollars? No recent was sent to me? I was told the cost would be 250???????
Dirtiest car I have ever rented, had to take it through car wash myself and am still waiting for the refund on that. Had to clean windows inside by myself as well. Horrible experience, will not rent from Avis again
