Cheap Car Rentals in San Antonio

Nice car, clean, quick check in. Car did need an oil change so kept getting messages about it. Car also had a small windshield crack but I had taken photos of the car at pickup and pointed it out at drop off. I was impressed with the gas mileage it got too (ford escape).

We were sent to the garage to pick up our car after checking in at the Alamo desk. There was no one to be found in the garage to select a car. I was with my wife and 7 month old child and the garage was freezing cold. After around 10 minutes of looking for someone to help us, a nice man who worked for the airport (and NOT Alamo) was kind enough to help us get a car. We then had to select a car seat and install it ourselves in the cold. No one checked to make sure it was installed properly. I am sure this is a safety violation of any rental car standards at a minimum. The whole ordeal took over 30 minutes causing us to almost miss our flight in Austin. I will never rent from Alamo again.

Customer service was excellent! Both at pick up and drop off. My only complaint was not being able to use my Apple Card because I would have been screwed had my colleague not been there to use his card instead.

The representative at the office is very mischievous. While I was there she called someone to let her know she forgot her driver's license. My mind I said let me make sure she gives me all my credit cards and license back. I asked her for the key for the car she told me she gave it to me I said no you didn't she said yes she did. I walked to the car search my purse and I had no keys. I walked back to the office to get the key then the guy came out and said he had it this is a game they play. When I went back to turn the car in I stopped and got $5 of gas. The representative asked me did I want a receipt and I said yes she said oh I have to take this fee off it'll only take a second. And I said what fee she said the fee for not putting gas I said I put gas she said I know that's why I'm going to take it off. I said why would you put it on there if you didn't know if I put gas or not she said well I could track you and see you then go anywhere so I assume you didn't put gas I said why would you assume. She said she tracked my car and said I didn't go anywhere and I said if you track my car you start putting gas. Again it's my belief if I had not asked for a receipt she would have added an extra charge on my bill when I asked for a receipt she knew that I would recognize her overcharging me for something I didn't get. I also believe if she's the manager of this site you need a new manager.

Louie, the manager, is awesome. Avis is always great, never gives me any issues, accepts my debit card with an out of state DL, I'm military so that works out well. The check-in process is so easy and not cumbersome or complicated. Additionally, I needed to extend my rental agreement another week; too easy. I called them up and Louie helped me once again and made it a smooth event. Plus, it was the cheapest I could find that wouldn't charge me hundreds of dollars in additional fees. I received a great 4-door, nice rental car too. Never ever had any issues with Avis. I'm a loyal customer FOR-EVER.

Charged $400 dollars more than the initial price.

When I booked the vehicle, the total charge did not include a facility charge of 27.32. Additionally, there were no notes or notification that there would be a facility charge let alone the amount. When I asked Hertz customer service about this since I was not aware, they said I did not have to take the car if that was an issue. Poor customer service on Hertz's part.

I am writing about a recent experience I had with Hertz rental. I had rented a Tesla with the Alamo heights location. When I picked up the car, I noticed the dashboard said tire pressure low, and I brought it to your agents attention, but I was told that the sensor was broken. I asked if I could get another car or the sensor issue could be fixed, but they said that was the only car available and I had to drive a week with a broken tire sensor. For the week that I had the car, the tire pressure kept going down (from 29 to 21psi, when the standard is 41) and I had to stop multiple times to check the tire pressure and go back to the Alamo heights rental location to check whether the tire was indeed deflated. Your agents never fixed the broken sensor issue, and I had to drive worrying about a real or fake flat tire. This made our trip in San Antonio very stressful as we were traveling with a baby and safety was our priority. We kept worrying that we would be found with a flat tire in the middle of the road in a city far away from home. This experience made me have doubts about renting from Hertz in the future. When traveling to another city, I need a reliable, safe car more than at home. Hertz was not able to provide me with a reliable car.

When I got to the counter to pick up my rental vehicle I was told that my reservation was cancelled. I Did Not Cancel My Reservation! I looked like a fool and was highly disappointed. Check-in counter tried selling me an upgrade from a full size car to a SUV. It would have tacked on about $70 more to my total on a 6 night rental. I declined the upgrade at the counter. When I went to pick up my car (still assuming it would be a full-size) I was informed that they did not have any full-size and that if it was okay with me, that they would upgrade me to a SUV at not extra charge. I obviously had no choice, if I wanted to leave at that time, so I took the SUV. Now, the counter must have had this information when checking me in. So, it left me thinking, why did they offer to upsell me at the counter, knowing that they didn't have what I ordered?! Would they have even told me that they were out of full-size cars if I had paid the $70 upgrade fee? Dishonest, to say the least. Beware of these practices! I will not be booking with them and when I book further, with others, I will be asking these questions!

The example of car you’re told will be “like or similar” is not anything near what you get. So honesty in this department would be appreciated. Thx.

Not located at the airport which was NOT noted when booking!

Counter employee was very rude and short with us. We had reserved a midsized car and were told when we arrived that the only vehicle they had for us was a truck unless we wanted to pay to upgrade to a Tesla. They're attitude was very rude and acted like it was our fault that we were stuck with a truck. We would have rented from another brand but Budget was the only agency available when we flew in.

The car wasn't ready when I arrived for pick up; I couldn't wait for "at least an hour" for the car of my choice and was suggested to downgrade; the car I downgraded to hadn't been cleaned - prt hair all over; got a lousy $28 discount for the downgrade; when I returned the car an hour and a half late, I was charged for an extra day.
