This may be a Kayak issue. I searched SAN airport location and I was given one 20miles away from the airport.
I searched for airport rentals and the listing came up. No where did I see that KAYAK had expanded my search for all of San Diego. I reserved a car and went to pick it up at the airport only to be told that my pick up location was located 12 miles away. The Hertz agent says it happens all the time. This is KAYAK's fault. It cost me $30 and an extra hour to take an UBER to the pick up location. KAYAK should be reimbursing me the extra cost and compensating me for the extra time but I'm sure they won't.
Car was extremely dirty (have video/pics), gas was only 3/4 full when picked up and the web site when scheduling was to be picked up at airport rental area but was told we had to go 17 miles for car, thus causing us to get Uber to get to other Hertz. Not fun experience. Did not have to pay return of car to airport and not original location.
Car was at different Hertz location and staff was not very good.
We were never told, nor saw that Hertz closed at 5pm. Our flight did not arrive until 4:45, and the Hertz location was still 20 minutes away (which we were also NOT notified about until someone called). So, I had to find another rental that was available. Thanks to AVIS, we were able to find the car we needed without issue.
This was THE WORST car rental experience that I have ever had! I tried renting a car at a place near me and I received a response indicating that my car would be ready. Shortly thereafter I received a text that the car I had reserved was NOT available - in fact, there were no cars available. So, I tried another place and the result was exactly the same - no cars available! But, there is no indication that no cars are available BEFORE making the reservation!!! I will NEVER use this website again, EVER!!!
Sales person kept attempting to raise the rental car price with all the rental car accessories….when you refused the salesperson would overly push them. I wound up leaving with no rental car.
I love the smooth efficiency. More choices would have been nice but I also liked it that the place was small—on balance I prefer the smaller place even if it meant fewer choices of cars.
Terrible experience. Never got the car, rental location was closed and airport location wouldn’t assist, told me that’s what I get for going through a third party. Extremely rude. Non refundable fee, so out the money, everyone with our travel group was appalled. Rebooked with Avis through Costco.
The whole Enterprise experience was really great and much better than most other rental car agencies. The SD staff was really accomodating with a short notice on the rental due to flight issues and drop off at LAX location was so easy and incredibly accomodating.

I liked nothing. Budget cancelled my rental as they had no more cars available.
When I arrived to pick up my car they had lost my reservation and had another option for me that was 75% more than my booking. I had even called them to make sure I had everything I needed. As i walked out the door they made me another offer, in front of other customers “if I wasn’t able to find anything cheaper” of merely 50% more than booking. Unmatched customer service. But truly a reason to never use Kayak to book a car our Budget ever again! Other than that, San Diego has been great. Rented a car next door and moved on with my life. Thanks for reading!

A bit of a wait to pick up car and did not get the car originally indicated, but satisfactory alternate car. We had to ask them to make note of some small scratches and dings already on the car. Car worked great during our travels and was reliable. Drop off was pretty stressful- way too many travelers and not enough shuttle buses and staff
It easy to pick up and drop off, will rent from them again.
It is rare to find personal, caring service in our services industries today. Alfredo provided a clean, well maintained vehicle, on time with no waiting. The drop-off was quick and easy as well. Will definitely use this Budget location when I am back in San Diego.
The rental car tires were in terrible condition. Front two were bald and one of the rear tires leaked air. Unsat

Got to rental place and they had no cars to rent. The man running the place was rude, could care less if we got a car to rent. Horrible experience.

Drop off was pretty easy. Pick up was not. First, the car was dirty. The windows had not been wiped down and I had to do that myself in order to see clearly. The vehicle came with an odd charger that had to be plugged in, in order to connect to CarPlay. The local Avis provided that charger for me after I returned to the lot to let them know that I was not able to connect to CarPlay via Bluetooth. The car also was not all the way filled with gas. It was supposed to be for when I picked it up and it was not.
They did not honor my reservation because I missed my flight.
