This was in fact, a "non rental" situation. A last minute meeting was scheduled in San Diego, I don't own a car with more than two seat belts, so called over to Hertz for a reservation. The next morning, the scheduled meeting was cancelled, there was no need for the rental car. I call over to Hertz, spoke with a well versed representative, the transaction was cancelled without an issue. This was service beyond expectation and greatly appreciated. Thanks, Hertz!
I was charged for a tank of gas even though the car was brought back with a full tank. The attendant said he could not refund to my credit even though he was able to charge my credit card. He was very unprofessional. I told him he was stealing money. I will not rent from Hertz again and I will put a stop payment on charges.

Beware Hertz has 2 sites @ SNA/Orange County. We were lucky that airport Hertz able to override offsite Hertz reservation so we could simply drive away rental car instead paying for Uber rides to/from offsite Hertz. Rental car was very good.
Pretty much nothing went right. We were picking up the car following a flight into Orange County. It turns out that the Santa Anna rental location was 6+ miles away from the airport. We had to take an Uber to the enterprise location. We were also told that unlike every other enterprise location, they could not pick us up at the airport. I checked at the airport location to see if they would honor the reservation and was told it would cost over $100 more. The one thing enterprise agent at the Santa Ana office did do was discount the one-way fee to compensate for our having to pay for an Uber to get to the location. Then when we went to return the car back at the orange county airport, the computers were down and was told that the car could be checked in the following morning. When I called the airport location the following morning to see if the car had been checked in, the call was not routed to the airport but rather to a call center. They were unable to tell if the car had been checked in. I never got a receipt emailed to me showing that the car was checked in as promised. I had to call the next morning only to find out that the car had been checked in with l damage noted and a resulting charge. Fortunately, when I had left the car at the airport, I had taken a video showing that there was no damage to the car. I spoke to the phone representative who was willing to check in the car completely and remove any damage charges. To top it off the car stunk with a smell that was unsuccessfully masked with an excessive application of air freshener. Needless to say, a VERY unsatisfactory experience.

Super long line in Santa Ana and they didn't bother to tell people we could also check in by kiosk at a different location. Didn't have my reservation easily available by my name or contact info. Thought I was from Missouri for some odd reason (I'm from California). Triple confirmed a different drop off location and price then charged me twice as much on drop off. People were great and honored the quoted price, but took extra time and the system is clearly lagging.
I placed the pick up time for 12pm but my plane didn't arrive until 4pm. I called them at 4 and they had already given my rental away and no other car was available...only SUV's and sports cars which where exponentially more expensive
We had reserved a mini van only to be told it was not available an hour before. We then accepted the alternative since we were pressed for time. Everything seemed ok until we loaded all our luggage, kids & grandma buckled up ...within minutes there were trails of ants all over!! Totally disgusting...this has never happened before. I called to complain but was told by the agent that this happens when cars are parked in grassy areas. When I first got in the car , I noticed some crumbs & just brushed it off. Looking back there is absolutely no excuse for this neglect in properly & throughly cleaning a car . This was unacceptable & we then drove to another location to swap the car for the minivan I reserved in the first place 😫 This whole ordeal set us back over an hour & in turn we missed our evening reservation. This caused so much inconvenience. That I will definitely think twice about renting from this company again :(
The staff at both locations were wonderful - my flight was running late on my pickup date and the man at the location (Jason) was really helpful and offered to wait for me if I was close to their closing time - it wasn't necessary since I made it in time, but I truly appreciated his willingness to accommodate me - it definitely relieved some stress and made my travel day much more enjoyable. The car was new and nice and clean.
First car would not start. Second car had only a partial tank of gas, a broken center console, and ants. They quoted me a price of $45 and said insurance was $11. When I asked them to remove the insurance they said the price would be $42, so basically they lied. When I returned the car they're charged my credit card $65 instead of $45 without telling me why. And since I had to fill up to a partial tank of gas I ended up accidentally overfilling and so overpaid on gas. Would not use this company again.
Rented at this off airport location. Was half the price airport rental. took uber maybe 5 minute ride.
Clean, easy, reasonable price and FLEXIBLE. Picked up Van in Costa Mesa, CA and dropped off @ SFO (San Francisco Airport) with a day notice. No extra charge!
Budget rental didnt have the vehicle I had to find another location in a different city when I arrived 8 people had been waiting for 30 mins I waited additional 25 mins and when it was finally my turn I couldnt get a vehicle because it's based on credit. Why they accept your money first if o.a.c.?
