Cheap Car Rentals in Tampa Airport

Fake price, long wait at the pick up counter.

Very expensive subpar vehicle. Pick up and drop off were outstanding.

I rented the top of the line Infiniti SUV and it smelled musty inside and seats were dirty.

Car said it was full however it was not. Then at dropoff they said we didn’t fuel when we did.

At Tampa airport we waited close to 2 hours on a line at Budget. All the workers were rude when the people asked what the wait was. We were told they had no cars . How can that be? Every single person had a reservation. They sent an employee to check each and every person's reservation on the line of at least 100 people . I checked all the other car rental places there but nobody would rent to us without a reservation. I will never ever rent from Budget. again .

My flight was delayed from Eugene to Denver so I missed my connecting flight which made me late getting to Tampa. When I got to Ace to pickup my car I was told they gave my economy car to someone else. I was not instructed when reserving the car that I needed to call if my plane was delayed otherwise I would have. I also overheard the agent tell someone else they overbooked themselves. She wasn't very sympathetic with my situation. Then I was told they could give me a Toyota RAV but when I went to pickup my vehicle they tried to give me a large minivan. This was not acceptable so I advised the man helping me to please find me another car. I was then given a Nissan Kicks. On top of all this I was charged an extra 10 bucks a day plus tax for the rental fees. I was expecting to pay roughly $465 but ended up paying $610. I am not confident to use ACE in the future.

Toyota cross has adaptive cruise control which is great for the freeway.

All was good. We got in earlier than expected so had to wait 2 hrs for our car as they had no cars available unless we paid for an upgrade. So we waited. And got the car we ordered. It was my mistake. We did get the car 45 min earlier than we booked for.

It was not an easy process with rental. First, please let me know where the rental car place is...especially, if it is NOT residing at the airport, and, secondly, the instructions and directions of how to get there from the airport. So, more clarity, even with the small nuances and details about completing the rental paperwork for a vehicle. Even after paying for and requesting the specific class of vehicle, I had to wait longer, offered a totally different [class of] vehicle I requested, and completed more paperwork (many of which I felt was unnecessary] just to grab my vehicle when arriving at the rental place. Lastly, please alert the traveler upfront of the times of operation, because flights come and go very early in the morning and very late at night, and we [the patrons] need to know if it's even a good situation to rent from the company if the open/available times are not conducive with my travel/flight.

Car rental closes at 10pm. And the rental office is NOT connected to the airport. Called for several hours and they would not pick up the phone. Even called the number while inside their building and the phones never rang. Car was not clean. There was food stuck/swiped on the dashboard. On the counsel there were crumbs and hard crusty stuff stuck.

Its our big mistake by using their company. We should have review first. Slow service and bad attitude ( I didnt have the chance to get employee's name). Very dirty inside and bathroom horrible.

We booked through Priceline and we were supposed to get a jaguar and it was not available. Then the gentlemen was pushy with the additional products and especially paying for gas up front when we knew we were not going to use all of the gas. He was rude at the Tampa airport. He was not helpful. We literally were only driving from Tampa to Miami due to a flight cancellation and we stopped to use a restroom and our battery died. It was all a terrible experience and we feel we should be compensated for the stress, time and extra aggravation that we were caused. Thanks and have a great!

Tampa counter was very slow to process the reservation. It wasn't overly busy but their computers just seemed to take a long time to pull up any info.

Advantage never showed up at 7 a.m. at the desk in Tampa. Ace Rental took my reservation at 7. They got into Advantage's computer. The car's transmission started having problems half way through the drive from Tampa Airport to my destination in Ft. Myer's. I called Ace, they called back and asked if I wanted a tow truck to tow me back. I said no as the car somehow readjusted itself when I turned it off and restarted it. Then I continued on the highway, and the transmission started having trouble again. I could only go 40 in a 70 mph zone. It was dangerous. Advantage said I did not show up for my rental. I said yes, but Ace took it over. I was told that was not possible. It was. The check engine light turned on. I sat for 30 minutes on a road off of the highway. I was told people would call me. They did not. I drive 30 mph to get to my sister's house with noises under the car. I finally made it to my sister's house. Later that evening, a tow truck dropped off a different car and took that one. The man could barely drive the car up onto the truck. He has to back it up and gun it. What should have taken me 2 hrs and 10 minutes took 5.5 hours. I understand that cars have mechanical issues. But it was the lack of communication and failure to take responsibility by the staff that was the most troublesome. I am considering challenging the charge on the car with the company because of the personal danger I was in on the highway, and the stress/amount of time it took to get to Ft. Myers. Paula Coffee

Both at the gate and in the garage, the reps were very helpful and clarified the rules clearly. They answered questions and were informative about options.
