Simple and easy rental car experience.

The rep at the counter, Allen, was very helpful and made extra effort to get a map for me to get back to the baggage claim area once I got the truck. He gave me a sticky note with numbers on it to give to the other rep in the booth to pickup the car. Once I got down there, she was quickly able to provide the keys and let me know where the car was. I asked her if she had any paperwork for me as I had not signed anything with Allen. She asked if he told me the computer was down, but he had not said anything about that. I felt very uncomfortable about leaving in the car without any paperwork and I had to get back to the airport to pick up my 92 yr old father in law. The car was very clean and he looked in the glove compartment and saw an insurance document. I called my husband who had made the reservations for the car in January and prepaid for the rental. Allen said there was a security deposit of $400.00 which he put on my credit card and added a basic insurance coverage on but it didn’t sound like I had a choice to not get that since I have my own full coverage from home. He said I would get $200 -$250.00 credited back once the car was returned. All of this was quick but did cause me some concern after hearing that someone claiming to be Hertz car rental was found to be renting stollen cars and I was just praying the whole time I had the car not to get pulled over and gave the car impounded and be without a car.!!! The computer system was still down when I returned the car but the rep was very helpful and she was able to verify timely return and the car was in good condition. My suggestion would be to consider having a paper backup set of documents available for car rental clients when the system is down. Your call system down not allow your clients to contact a person with concerns like this and the only communication option was to send an email, which my husband did the day I picked up the car but he hasn’t heard a response as yet. The vehicle and rental process was good overall. The only issue I had was with the pickup procedure. When I got to the desk to pickup the vehicle I had already arranged, I had to wait behind two indecisive customers and my family ended up having to wait 30 mins. It was no fault of sixt, but if there were a quicker pickup process or one line dedicated to already rented vehicles and one line for new rentals it would have expedited the process. The line backed up and over 10 people with prior rentals had to wait as well. Overall a good experience but could use better follow through. The drop off was very quick and easy. I just wish the pickup was the same.

The pick up and drop off experience was excellent! The car itself was okay but not super comfy. And it was plenty clean.

Overall great experience except for pick up. Had to wait in a long line (about an hour) with two tired, hungry toddlers. Then after loading everything into the car, including two car seats we realized that the key wasn’t in the vehicle and no one could find it so we ended up having to switch cars.

Be careful when booking. I was told I rented an electric car. I didn’t select an electric car and my kayak confirmation email said it was an intermediate car. Eventually they gave me a regular car after I asked to speak with the manager. The car had very dirty windows and was a really low quality car for the price of an electric car- I expected better from Hertz.

My flight was delayed from Eugene to Denver so I missed my connecting flight which made me late getting to Tampa. When I got to Ace to pickup my car I was told they gave my economy car to someone else. I was not instructed when reserving the car that I needed to call if my plane was delayed otherwise I would have. I also overheard the agent tell someone else they overbooked themselves. She wasn't very sympathetic with my situation. Then I was told they could give me a Toyota RAV but when I went to pickup my vehicle they tried to give me a large minivan. This was not acceptable so I advised the man helping me to please find me another car. I was then given a Nissan Kicks. On top of all this I was charged an extra 10 bucks a day plus tax for the rental fees. I was expecting to pay roughly $465 but ended up paying $610. I am not confident to use ACE in the future.

Toyota cross has adaptive cruise control which is great for the freeway.

All was good. We got in earlier than expected so had to wait 2 hrs for our car as they had no cars available unless we paid for an upgrade. So we waited. And got the car we ordered. It was my mistake. We did get the car 45 min earlier than we booked for.

Lots of up charges. Not good. They did not have the car I had agreed to. The car I got had some sort of vibration on the highway. Annoying. Staff was nice enough.

Clean the vehicle

A ridiculous amount of hidden fees. I ended up paying $195 to rent a car for 12 hours. They didn’t even tell me about some of the charges until drop off.

It was not an easy process with rental. First, please let me know where the rental car place is...especially, if it is NOT residing at the airport, and, secondly, the instructions and directions of how to get there from the airport. So, more clarity, even with the small nuances and details about completing the rental paperwork for a vehicle. Even after paying for and requesting the specific class of vehicle, I had to wait longer, offered a totally different [class of] vehicle I requested, and completed more paperwork (many of which I felt was unnecessary] just to grab my vehicle when arriving at the rental place. Lastly, please alert the traveler upfront of the times of operation, because flights come and go very early in the morning and very late at night, and we [the patrons] need to know if it's even a good situation to rent from the company if the open/available times are not conducive with my travel/flight.

Car rental closes at 10pm. And the rental office is NOT connected to the airport. Called for several hours and they would not pick up the phone. Even called the number while inside their building and the phones never rang. Car was not clean. There was food stuck/swiped on the dashboard. On the counsel there were crumbs and hard crusty stuff stuck.

Its our big mistake by using their company. We should have review first. Slow service and bad attitude ( I didnt have the chance to get employee's name). Very dirty inside and bathroom horrible.

Advantage never showed up at 7 a.m. at the desk in Tampa. Ace Rental took my reservation at 7. They got into Advantage's computer. The car's transmission started having problems half way through the drive from Tampa Airport to my destination in Ft. Myer's. I called Ace, they called back and asked if I wanted a tow truck to tow me back. I said no as the car somehow readjusted itself when I turned it off and restarted it. Then I continued on the highway, and the transmission started having trouble again. I could only go 40 in a 70 mph zone. It was dangerous. Advantage said I did not show up for my rental. I said yes, but Ace took it over. I was told that was not possible. It was. The check engine light turned on. I sat for 30 minutes on a road off of the highway. I was told people would call me. They did not. I drive 30 mph to get to my sister's house with noises under the car. I finally made it to my sister's house. Later that evening, a tow truck dropped off a different car and took that one. The man could barely drive the car up onto the truck. He has to back it up and gun it. What should have taken me 2 hrs and 10 minutes took 5.5 hours. I understand that cars have mechanical issues. But it was the lack of communication and failure to take responsibility by the staff that was the most troublesome. I am considering challenging the charge on the car with the company because of the personal danger I was in on the highway, and the stress/amount of time it took to get to Ft. Myers. Paula Coffee
