the Budget counter in Terrace BC closes at 11 and our flight was delayed until midnight. The lovely young woman at the counter stayed for us and was friendly and smiling. It made a great difference in our trip. Please tell her she’s wonderful. I wish I remembered her name—maybe Mikaela?

Type of SUV was perfect. There was a lot of wear and tear on the vehicle, although it's only a 2021. Hertz totally acknowledged it prior, it's not their fault that previous users trashed it.

The agent at pickup, the ease of the rental process at pickup, the vehicle.

I reserved the vehicle for 4 days. During the first day my itinerary changed and I did not need it. I was given two local numbers to call, a cell and a landline, both with voicemail. I called 5 times leaving two voicemails asking if I could return the vehicle early. No one returned my call until an hour before the vehicle was due back. I would like Hertz to contact me to discuss a financial settlement.

Our Major concern and complaint is the quality of tires on the unit we rented. We rented a Toyota Tundra pickup for our visit in Kitimat, BC. The tires were the poorest quality for the current season for winter driving. They were bald tires (little to no tread). We picked up the unit at the Terrace airport and had to drive to Kitimat, while in Kitimat a major snowstorm hit and in 4 wheel drive we barely made it back to the Terrace airport. Our departure flight was canceled because of the snowstorm so we had to go back to Kitimat. On the return drive to Kitimat we were going down a hill and went into several skids and almost went off the road down an embankment (no guard rails and a few 100 foot drop). This is unacceptable to have such poor quality of tires on a unit for winter driving conditions. I am an experienced driver ( Class 1 license) for over 40 years. My experienced driving most likely prevented a serious accident. We had the good fortune of not having any oncoming traffic when we were in the skids. After such a harrowing experience I believe full compensation should be in store for us. And, Do you not have someone checking the quality of tires on units?

The van was easy to pick up at the airport.

I am not sure if I missed the small print, but National in Terrace did not provide unlimited mileage with the van rental. We were allocated 100 km per day and exceeded that number about 3 days into the week long rental. Going anywhere in that part of BC is going to take over 100 km per day.

I got a call to double check that I still need the car. However, I had already called earlier to tell them that and had gotten voicemail.

Be available for questions - I kept getting voicemail, even when I called in to say I would be a bit late! Try to make sure that your client knows how to operate keyless entry and open the gas tank. Not all of us do. I'm so used to a button in the car to open the tank that I hadn't found out until I need to return the car that I could have pushed one side on the little door to access it. >_<
