We were in an emergency and needed to rent a car while in Walla Walla. We called Enterprise and were told that no cars were available to rent in a 60-mile radius. We continued our search, and that's how I connected with KAYAK. We found a car within walking distance from our hotel. They didn't open until 9:00 am, but I arrived a little early. Gia Sorn welcomed me into the office even though they weren't even open. She was about to call me and let me know she would not have any full-sized cars available until three in the afternoon. I asked Gia if she had anything, and she offered to be a sub-compact (Chevy Spark) which I took immediately. The car had been turned in late the day before and hadn't been cleaned up yet. The staff got right on it, and I received the car within minutes. Gia was excellent in all aspects of her customer service. When I turned the car in Spokane, a very tall man with dark hair helped us. When I was in Spokane earlier in the week, we had to wait for family to arrive, so we waited for them by the car rental area. I listened to this man interact with several customers and was utterly impressed with how he did so. His politeness, knowledge, and gratitude he showed customers for doing business with Enterprise was terrific. We experienced the same treatment with him when we turned the car in. I owned a service company for 30 years, had over 500 employees, and serviced markets in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. I demand top-notch customer service from my employees, so I know good service when I see it. Gia and this man were simply outstanding. If I were to start a service business now, I would hunt those two down and do everything I could to make them my first two hires. We had a nightmare air travel experience. Cancellations stranded us far from home, and the airline wasn't able to rebook us for over a week. Budget rental car was our savior -- we were able to get in touch with their customer service reps in a timely fashion, and we were able to extend our rental and drop off at a different location without any trouble. This allowed us to drive home safely when the airlines were unable to get us home.

The reduced hours on both ends of the rental were very tricky to navigate and forced us to rent for two days for what was a one-day rental.

I had an Avis rental scheduled for four days for $104.00, but I ended up getting charged over $440. I scheduled the pick up for 12:00 pm. the next day after I flew in to the Walla Walla Airport because the rental site was listed as closed after 6:00 pm. However, when I arrived they were open, so I checked in and asked if I could pick it up that evening and pay for an extra day. The desk clerk was very pleasant and worked on the reservation and told me that it would cost a little bit extra to re-reserve. When I returned the car in Spokane I discovered the $440 charge. The Spokane Airport Avis couldn't help me, and I've tried calling the Walla Walla location, but they never answer. The clerk could have informed me that the cost would more than DOUBLE to make the change, or she could have even rented me a car for one day and then linked the two reservations together.

Hertz office closed. Went into the airport to rent vehicle and no one there. Just a sign that said call a number that was an answering machine for a Hertz office in Yakima. Called three times. Nobody ever called back.

If a car rental company is going to close during COVID, let your customers know. This was a major inconvenience and there is nothing a customer can do about it. Don’t rent cars from small airports during Covid, you won’t get one. Especially from these booking sites.
